Kugler Clear

Specification

• Designed to meet the EU definition of Crystaline Glass and to have similar working properties to lead cullet
• Refractive Index 1.5240
• Density 2.5642
• COE  - as you know COE changes depending upon the temperature range it is measured over:-
• 20-300oC     96.1 x 10’7     So compatible with Kugler and Gaffer Blowing Glasses  
• Approx nugget size 5cm diameter by 2cm deep
• Packed in 25kg boxes

Great workability with long working times for blowers; also performs well with propane and oxy-pro torches.

Melting and Annealing

• First Time : Starting from an empty pot,  carefully fill a few inches of the pot (may be break some up), charge at 1205oC  and then add more whole nuggets filling 3-5 times as normal
• Melting Overnight : fill on in 3-5 fills bringing up to 1205oC between each fill; hold for 6 hours then bring the temperature down to 1121oC by morning for one hour and then increase to your working temp.
• Melting over a Weekend : fill on in 3-5 fills bringing up to 1205oC temperature between each fill; leave at 1120oC, it should be ready to use first thing Monday morning
• Annealing range 500-510oC oC -  see Annealing Information for general advice  

The barium and zinc help give density, brightness and good working properties; the lithium helps to improve working life and melting properties

Don’t forget that using nuggets gives you 25% more glass for your money - 20% of batch goes up the flue!
